About Glycomet Trio Forte 1 Tablet SR

Glycomet Trio Forte 1 Tablet SR is a triple-combination anti-diabetic medicine used for Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus in adults.
It is prescribed when diet, exercise, and dual therapy (two-drug treatment) are insufficient for controlling blood sugar.
The combination of Glimepiride, Metformin, and Voglibose targets multiple pathways to provide comprehensive glucose control, reducing both fasting and post-meal blood sugar spikes.

How It Works

  • Glimepiride (1mg): Stimulates insulin secretion from the pancreas (sulfonylurea).

  • Metformin (1000mg): Reduces liver glucose production and improves insulin sensitivity (biguanide).

  • Voglibose (0.2mg): Slows carbohydrate digestion and absorption in the intestine (alpha-glucosidase inhibitor), preventing postprandial hyperglycemia.

The sustained-release (SR) formulation ensures a gradual and steady release, maintaining blood sugar control throughout the day.

Uses

  • Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus

  • Controls both fasting and post-meal glucose levels

  • Helps prevent long-term diabetes-related complications (heart, kidney, nerve, and eye problems)

Directions for Use

  • Take once daily with food, preferably with the first main meal of the day, or as directed by your doctor.

  • Swallow whole; do not crush or chew.

  • Continue healthy diet and exercise as advised for optimal results.

Side Effects

Common side effects may include:

  • Hypoglycemia (low blood sugar)

  • Nausea, vomiting, or stomach discomfort

  • Diarrhea, bloating, or flatulence

  • Metallic taste in the mouth

  • Dizziness or headache

Seek medical attention if severe hypoglycemia occurs (sweating, trembling, confusion, fainting).

Precautions

  • Avoid alcohol, as it may increase the risk of hypoglycemia and lactic acidosis.

  • Inform your doctor if you have kidney, liver, or heart problems.

  • Not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding unless prescribed.

  • Regularly monitor blood glucose and HbA1c levels.

  • Take the tablet at the same time each day for consistent glucose control.
