Description
Co-Trimoxazole DS Tablet is a broad-spectrum antibiotic used to treat various bacterial infections. It combines Sulfamethoxazole, a sulfonamide that inhibits bacterial growth, with Trimethoprim, which prevents bacterial DNA synthesis. Together, they effectively stop the growth and spread of susceptible bacteria.

Treatment of urinary tract infections (UTIs)

Respiratory tract infections such as bronchitis and pneumonia

Gastrointestinal infections including typhoid and traveler’s diarrhea

Skin and soft tissue infections

Prevention and treatment of Pneumocystis jirovecii pneumonia (PCP) in immunocompromised patients
Dosage:
The usual adult dose is one double-strength tablet (800/160mg) twice daily, or as prescribed by your doctor. Dosage and duration depend on the type and severity of infection. Complete the full course even if symptoms improve.
How to Use:
Swallow the tablet whole with a full glass of water, preferably after meals to reduce stomach upset. Maintain adequate hydration during treatment.
Precautions:

Inform your doctor if you have kidney or liver disease, anemia, or a history of allergic reactions to sulfa drugs.

Not recommended for pregnant or breastfeeding women unless prescribed.

Avoid prolonged exposure to sunlight as the medicine may increase sensitivity.

Monitor for unusual bleeding, rash, or persistent fever during treatment.
Side Effects:
Common side effects include nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, mild rash, or dizziness. Rare but serious effects include severe allergic reactions, blood disorders, liver damage, or kidney issues. Seek immediate medical attention if severe symptoms occur.
