Description

DiaNORM-M Tablet is a combination oral antidiabetic medicine containing Gliclazide (80mg) and Metformin (500mg). It is used to manage Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (non-insulin-dependent diabetes) in adults when diet, exercise, or single-drug therapy is not sufficient to control blood sugar.

  • Gliclazide (a sulfonylurea) helps the pancreas release more insulin.

  • Metformin (a biguanide) reduces glucose production in the liver and increases the body’s sensitivity to insulin.

Together, they provide better blood sugar control, reduce insulin resistance, and help prevent long-term diabetes-related complications such as nerve damage, kidney failure, heart disease, and eye problems.

Uses:

  • Treatment of Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus

  • Helps maintain optimal blood glucose levels

  • Prevents diabetes-related complications like neuropathy, nephropathy, retinopathy, and cardiovascular problems

Dosage:

The dosage depends on your blood sugar levels, response to treatment, and doctor’s advice. It is generally taken once or twice daily with meals to reduce stomach upset.

  • Swallow the tablet whole with water.

  • Take it at the same time each day to maintain steady drug levels.

  • Do not skip meals after taking the tablet, as it may cause low blood sugar (hypoglycemia).

  • Never stop the medication suddenly without consulting your doctor.

How to Use:

Take DiaNORM-M Tablet with or after meals to minimize gastric irritation. Swallow it whole with a glass of water. Continue to take the medicine regularly even if you feel well — diabetes requires long-term control. Along with the tablet, maintain a healthy diet, exercise routine, and regular monitoring of blood glucose levels.

Precautions:

  • Avoid alcohol, as it may cause severe hypoglycemia or lactic acidosis (a rare but serious side effect of Metformin).

  • Inform your doctor if you have liver, kidney, or heart conditions.

  • Not suitable for patients with Type 1 Diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis.

  • Avoid if you have severe kidney impairment or are undergoing radiological tests using contrast dye.

  • Pregnant or breastfeeding women should use only under medical supervision.

  • Always carry glucose or sugar candies to manage sudden low blood sugar symptoms (such as sweating, trembling, or dizziness).

Side Effects:

Common: Low blood sugar, nausea, vomiting, stomach upset, diarrhea, dizziness, metallic taste, or tiredness.
Serious (seek medical help): Severe hypoglycemia, persistent vomiting, yellowing of eyes or skin (liver issues), shortness of breath, or signs of lactic acidosis (muscle pain, fatigue, irregular heartbeat).
