Description

DIApride 2 Tablet is an oral anti-diabetic medication containing Glimepiride (2mg) as its active ingredient. It belongs to the sulfonylurea class of medicines, which help control blood sugar levels in people with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (T2DM). The medicine works by stimulating the pancreas to release more insulin and enhancing the body’s sensitivity to it, thereby reducing blood glucose levels.

By maintaining better blood sugar control, DIApride 2 Tablet helps prevent or delay diabetes-related complications such as nerve damage, kidney failure, eye problems (retinopathy), and heart disease. It is most effective when combined with a healthy diet, regular exercise, and weight management.

Uses:

  • Management of Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus

  • Helps control high blood sugar levels

  • Prevents long-term complications of diabetes such as neuropathy, nephropathy, and retinopathy

Dosage:

  • The dosage is determined by your doctor based on your blood sugar level, response to treatment, and medical history.

  • Usually taken once daily, preferably with or immediately before breakfast.

  • Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water — do not crush or chew.

  • Regular monitoring of blood glucose levels is recommended.

  • Do not skip doses or stop the medicine suddenly without consulting your doctor.

How to Use:

Take DIApride 2 Tablet exactly as directed by your physician. It should be taken with food to avoid episodes of hypoglycemia (low blood sugar). Maintain a balanced diet, exercise regularly, and monitor your blood sugar frequently. Avoid missing meals, as this can cause a sudden drop in blood glucose levels.

Precautions:

  • Avoid alcohol, as it may cause dangerous drops in blood sugar.

  • Not for use in Type 1 Diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis.

  • Use with caution in patients with liver or kidney disorders.

  • Always carry a quick source of sugar (like glucose tablets or sweets) to manage symptoms of low blood sugar such as dizziness, sweating, trembling, or confusion.

  • Inform your doctor if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or planning to conceive.

  • Use with caution in elderly patients, as they may be more sensitive to its effects.

Side Effects:

Common: Hypoglycemia (weakness, hunger, sweating, dizziness), nausea, headache, and mild stomach upset.
Occasional: Allergic skin reactions, weight gain, or blurred vision.
Serious (seek immediate help): Severe hypoglycemia, yellowing of skin or eyes (liver issues), or allergic swelling of the face/lips/throat.
