Description

Diapride M4 Tablet is an oral anti-diabetic combination medicine formulated to manage Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus effectively. It contains Glimepiride (4mg), a sulfonylurea, and Metformin (500mg), a biguanide—two of the most widely used agents for diabetes management. Together, they help to control blood sugar levels, especially in patients whose glucose levels are not adequately managed by diet, exercise, or single-drug therapy alone.

  • Glimepiride works by stimulating the pancreas to release more insulin, thereby helping the body to utilize sugar effectively.

  • Metformin works by reducing glucose production in the liver and improving the body’s response to insulin, promoting better sugar uptake by muscles and tissues.

This dual mechanism ensures a balanced and long-lasting reduction in blood glucose levels, reducing the risk of diabetes-related complications such as nerve damage, kidney failure, heart disease, and vision problems.

Uses:

  • Treatment and control of Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus

  • Helps maintain steady and safe blood sugar levels

  • Prevents complications like neuropathy, nephropathy, retinopathy, and cardiovascular disorders caused by uncontrolled diabetes

Dosage:

  • Dosage should be individualized as per the doctor’s recommendation, depending on blood sugar control, age, and tolerance.

  • Usually taken once or twice daily, with meals to minimize stomach upset.

  • Swallow the tablet whole; do not crush or chew.

  • Try to take it at the same time every day for maximum benefit.

  • Do not skip or double doses; consult your doctor if you miss one.

How to Use:

Take Diapride M4 Tablet exactly as prescribed by your doctor. Always take it with food to prevent low blood sugar (hypoglycemia) and reduce gastrointestinal discomfort. Follow a balanced diabetic diet, exercise regularly, and monitor your blood glucose levels periodically to ensure effective diabetes control.

Precautions:

  • Avoid alcohol, as it can increase the risk of hypoglycemia and lactic acidosis (a rare but serious complication from Metformin).

  • Not suitable for Type 1 Diabetes Mellitus or diabetic ketoacidosis.

  • Use with caution in patients with kidney, liver, or heart problems. Regular monitoring of renal and liver function is recommended.

  • Inform your doctor before any surgery or X-ray procedures using contrast dye.

  • Carry a sugar source (like glucose tablets or candy) to manage low blood sugar episodes.

  • Avoid skipping meals or prolonged fasting.

  • Consult your doctor if you are pregnant, planning to conceive, or breastfeeding.
