Description

Main Uses
AMlong Tablet is mainly prescribed to:

  • Control high blood pressure (hypertension)

  • Prevent chest pain (angina)

  • Reduce the risk of heart attack, stroke, and other heart problems

By keeping blood pressure under control, it helps protect the heart, brain, and kidneys from long-term damage.

How It Works:

  • Amlodipine belongs to a class of medicines called calcium channel blockers.

  • It relaxes and widens blood vessels, improving blood flow and making it easier for the heart to pump blood.

  • This helps lower blood pressure, reduce chest pain, and improve oxygen delivery to the heart muscles.

Dosage:

  • Usually taken once daily, at the same time each day.

  • Your doctor will decide the exact dose based on your condition and blood pressure control.

  • Do not skip or stop taking it suddenly, as this can cause a sudden rise in blood pressure or chest pain.

How to Use:

  • Take the tablet by mouth with a glass of water, with or without food.

  • Swallow it whole — do not crush or chew.

  • Continue taking it regularly even if you feel fine — high blood pressure often shows no symptoms.

Precautions:

  • Inform your doctor if you have heart failure, liver disease, or very low blood pressure.

  • Avoid alcohol, as it can increase dizziness.

  • Be cautious when driving or standing up suddenly, as it may cause lightheadedness.

  • Use during pregnancy or breastfeeding only under a doctor’s supervision.

  • Follow a low-salt diet and maintain an active lifestyle for best results.

Side Effects:
Common:

  • Swelling of ankles or feet

  • Headache

  • Dizziness or fatigue

  • Flushing (warm feeling on the face)

  • Palpitations (mild fast heartbeat)

Serious (rare):

  • Severe chest pain or worsening angina

  • Irregular heartbeat

  • Allergic reaction (rash, itching, swelling, breathing difficulty)
