Description

Olmesar A 40 Tablet is a combination medicine that contains Olmesartan Medoxomil (40mg), an angiotensin receptor blocker (ARB), and Amlodipine (5mg), a calcium channel blocker (CCB). It is prescribed for the treatment of hypertension (high blood pressure). By lowering blood pressure, it helps reduce the risk of heart attack, stroke, and kidney problems.

The two ingredients in Olmesar A 40 Tablet work in different but complementary ways:

  • Olmesartan Medoxomil relaxes blood vessels by blocking angiotensin II, a natural chemical that causes constriction.

  • Amlodipine helps widen blood vessels by relaxing the muscles of their walls.

Together, they make it easier for the heart to pump blood efficiently and reduce strain on the cardiovascular system.

How to use:
Take Olmesar A 40 Tablet exactly as prescribed by your doctor. It can be taken with or without food, preferably at the same time each day. Swallow the tablet whole without crushing or chewing. Continue taking the medicine regularly, even if you feel well, to maintain long-term blood pressure control.

Lifestyle tips:
For maximum benefit, combine medication with healthy habits such as regular exercise, a low-salt and balanced diet, weight management, quitting smoking, and limiting alcohol consumption.

Possible side effects:
Common side effects include ankle or foot swelling (edema), dizziness, headache, sleepiness, flushing, upset stomach, taste changes, tiredness, palpitations, and muscle cramps. Some patients may also experience increased uric acid, raised triglycerides, or mild liver enzyme changes. Most side effects are temporary and resolve on their own, but consult your doctor if they persist.

Precautions:

  • Alcohol: Avoid alcohol as it may worsen dizziness or drowsiness.

  • Pregnancy: Not safe; may cause serious harm to the unborn baby.

  • Breastfeeding: Probably unsafe; consult your doctor before use.

  • Kidney/Liver disease: Use with caution. Dose adjustment may be required. Close monitoring is recommended in patients with severe kidney or liver impairment.

  • Driving: May cause dizziness, tiredness, or blurred vision. Avoid driving if affected.

Missed dose:
If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. If it’s almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose. Do not take two doses together.
