Description

Olmesar CH 20 mg/6.25 mg Tablet is a combination medicine used to manage high blood pressure (hypertension). It contains Olmesartan Medoxomil (20mg), an angiotensin receptor blocker (ARB), and Chlorthalidone (6.25mg), a diuretic (water pill). Together, they help lower blood pressure by relaxing blood vessels and increasing urine output, which reduces excess fluid and strain on the heart. Proper control of blood pressure lowers the risk of heart attack, stroke, and kidney damage.

How to use:
This medicine can be taken with or without food, ideally at the same time every day. Because it contains a diuretic, avoid taking it close to bedtime (within 4 hours) to prevent frequent urination during the night. Continue taking it regularly as prescribed, even if you feel well, since untreated hypertension can silently damage the heart, blood vessels, and kidneys.

Possible side effects:
Common side effects may include dizziness, headache, tiredness, nausea, diarrhea, upset stomach, weakness, and taste changes. It may also cause changes in blood parameters such as increased uric acid, lipids, or potassium levels, and in rare cases, affect kidney or liver function. Most side effects are mild and resolve on their own, but consult your doctor if they persist.

Precautions:

  • Alcohol: Unsafe; may increase dizziness or drowsiness.

  • Pregnancy: Unsafe; proven risks to the developing baby. Use only if absolutely necessary under medical supervision.

  • Breastfeeding: Probably unsafe; small amounts may pass into breast milk and harm the baby.

  • Kidney/Liver problems: Use with caution; not recommended in severe kidney or liver disease.

  • Driving: Avoid if you experience dizziness, drowsiness, or vision disturbances.

Missed dose:
If you forget a dose, take it as soon as you remember. If it is nearly time for your next dose, skip the missed one and continue with your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.
