Description

Telmaxx 50 Tablet ER is a dual combination medicine used for the treatment of high blood pressure (hypertension) and associated heart conditions. It contains:

  • Telmisartan (40mg) – an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB) that relaxes and widens blood vessels, improving blood flow.

  • Metoprolol Succinate (50mg) – a beta-blocker that lowers heart rate, decreases workload on the heart, and helps control blood pressure.

This extended-release (ER) formulation provides a long-lasting effect, ensuring stable blood pressure control throughout the day. It helps reduce the risk of heart attack, stroke, kidney damage, and heart failure.

Uses

  • Management of high blood pressure (hypertension)

  • Prevention of heart attack and stroke

  • Management of chronic heart failure (when prescribed by doctor)

  • Protects heart in patients with hypertension and diabetes

Dosage

  • Take the medicine exactly as prescribed by your doctor.

  • Usually taken once daily, with or without food.

  • Swallow the tablet whole with water — do not chew or crush, as it is an extended-release (ER) tablet.

  • Try to take it at the same time each day for consistent results.

Possible Side Effects

  • Dizziness or lightheadedness

  • Fatigue, weakness, or sleepiness

  • Slow heartbeat (bradycardia)

  • Cold hands and feet

  • Nausea, vomiting, or stomach upset

  • Headache

Rare but serious: severe dizziness, shortness of breath, swelling in legs/ankles, sudden chest pain, or irregular heartbeat. Seek medical attention immediately if these occur.

Precautions

  • Inform your doctor if you have asthma, COPD, diabetes, thyroid disorders, kidney or liver problems, or any heart condition.

  • Not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding.

  • Do not stop taking suddenly — abrupt withdrawal may worsen heart conditions.

  • Limit alcohol consumption, as it may enhance dizziness or low blood pressure.

  • Regular monitoring of blood pressure, heart rate, and kidney function is advised during treatment.
