Description

Abvida SR 100 Tablet is a sustained release oral anti-diabetic formulation from Abbott, containing Vildagliptin 100mg per tablet. It is a DPP-4 inhibitor used to manage type 2 diabetes mellitus in adults, especially when diet, exercise, or single-drug therapy is insufficient to control blood sugar.

How it Works:
Vildagliptin inhibits the enzyme dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DPP-4), which results in increased levels of incretin hormones (GLP-1 and GIP) after meals. These hormones stimulate insulin secretion from the pancreas and reduce the release of glucagon from the liver, leading to improved glucose control—especially postprandially (after meals) and while fasting.

• Used alone or with other anti-diabetic medicines when monotherapy is inadequate
