Description

Main Uses
Amlong MT 50 Tablet PR is mainly prescribed to:

  • Control high blood pressure (hypertension)

  • Prevent chest pain (angina)

  • Lower the risk of heart attack and stroke

It helps relax blood vessels, improve blood flow, and reduce the workload on the heart, keeping your heart healthy and functioning efficiently.

How It Works:

  • Amlodipine – a calcium channel blocker that widens blood vessels, helping blood flow more easily and lowering blood pressure.

  • Metoprolol Succinate – a beta-blocker that slows down the heart rate and reduces the force of heart contractions, allowing the heart to work with less strain.

Together, they provide better blood pressure control, help prevent chest discomfort, and protect the heart from long-term complications.

Dosage:

  • Usually taken once daily, preferably at the same time each day.

  • The dosage is decided by your doctor based on your condition and response.

  • Do not stop suddenly without medical advice, as it may worsen chest pain or cause a sudden spike in blood pressure.

How to Use:

  • Take the tablet by mouth with water, with or without food.

  • Swallow it whole — do not crush or chew, as it is a prolonged-release (PR) tablet.

  • Take it consistently for best results, even if your blood pressure feels normal.

Precautions:

  • Inform your doctor if you have heart failure, asthma, thyroid issues, diabetes, or liver/kidney problems.

  • Avoid alcohol, as it can make you feel dizzy or excessively lower your blood pressure.

  • Rise slowly from sitting or lying positions to prevent lightheadedness.

  • Use during pregnancy or breastfeeding only under medical supervision.

  • Regularly monitor your blood pressure and heart rate as directed.

Side Effects:
Common:

  • Dizziness or fatigue

  • Headache

  • Swelling in ankles or feet

  • Slow heartbeat

  • Cold hands or feet

Serious (rare):

  • Chest pain or shortness of breath

  • Fainting or irregular heartbeat

  • Sudden weight gain or swelling (signs of fluid retention)

  • Allergic reaction (rash, itching, swelling, breathing difficulty)
