Description

Cekoda 200 DT Tablet is a third-generation cephalosporin antibiotic, prescribed for a wide range of common and moderate bacterial infections in adults and older children.

Uses / Indications

  • Respiratory tract infections: Pneumonia, bronchitis, acute sinusitis, tonsillitis, pharyngitis

  • Ear infections: Acute otitis media

  • Urinary tract infections (cystitis, pyelonephritis)

  • Skin and soft tissue infections

  • Sexually transmitted disease: Uncomplicated gonorrhea, cervical/urethral infections

  • Other moderate bacterial infections (as directed by physician)

How it Works / Key Benefits

  • Inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis, directly killing the bacteria (bactericidal effect).

  • Effective against a broad spectrum of both Gram-positive and Gram-negative organisms, including many resistant bacteria.

  • Well tolerated and widely used for outpatient treatment due to its safety and convenient dosing.

Dosage & Administration

  • Usual adult dose: 200 mg every 12 hours (twice daily) with food, for 5–14 days depending on infection severity and location.

  • For children: Dosing depends on age/weight and is prescribed by the physician; dispersible tablet can be dissolved in water for easier intake.

  • Always complete the full course even if symptoms resolve early—early discontinuation risks recurrence and antibiotic resistance.

  • Not for viral infections (colds, flu).

Safety & Side Effects

  • Common: Nausea, diarrhea, abdominal pain, headache, rash.

  • Inform doctor of cephalosporin/penicillin allergy, kidney/liver problems.

  • Use in pregnancy/breastfeeding only on physician advice.

  • May cause mild dizziness; avoid driving if affected.

Note:
Cekoda 200 DT is an effective oral antibiotic for moderate bacterial infections—always use under medical supervision and never stop or skip doses unless instructed by a healthcare provider.
