Chlorpromazine 50 Tablet

Description

Chlorpromazine 50 Tablet contains Chlorpromazine (50mg), an antipsychotic medicine (belongs to the phenothiazine group). It is mainly used in the treatment of psychiatric and mental health conditions. Chlorpromazine works by balancing certain brain chemicals (dopamine), which helps control mood, thoughts, and behavior.

Uses:

• Schizophrenia and other psychotic disorders

• Severe anxiety and agitation

• Bipolar disorder (manic episodes)

• Nausea and vomiting (when severe and resistant to other treatments)

• Intractable hiccups (persistent hiccups)

Dosage:

• Should be taken exactly as prescribed by the doctor.

• Usually taken 2–3 times daily, with or without food.

• Dosage may vary depending on the patient’s condition.

• Do not stop suddenly without medical supervision.

Side Effects:

• Drowsiness, dizziness

• Dry mouth, constipation

• Blurred vision

• Weight gain

• Low blood pressure (especially on standing)

• Rare but serious: uncontrolled muscle movements, seizures, jaundice

Precautions:

• Avoid alcohol while taking this medicine.

• May cause drowsiness—do not drive or operate machinery.

• Inform doctor if you have liver disease, low blood pressure, Parkinson’s disease, epilepsy, or glaucoma.

• Not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding unless clearly prescribed.
