Description

CIPCOZ-TZ Tablet is a synergistic combination of a broad-spectrum antibiotic (ciprofloxacin) and an antiprotozoal/antibacterial agent (tinidazole), mainly for bacterial and parasitic mixed infections.

Uses / Indications

  • Gastrointestinal infections: Acute diarrhea (traveler’s diarrhea), dysentery, amebiasis, giardiasis.

  • Urinary tract infections (UTIs): Caused by mixed or resistant organisms.

  • Gynecological infections: Vaginitis, cervicitis, pelvic inflammatory disease, and infections involving both bacteria and protozoa.

  • Sexually transmitted infections (some cases): Includes trichomoniasis and other protozoal infections.

  • Lung and respiratory tract infections: Especially if mixed with anaerobic/parasitic components.

  • Prevention or treatment of infections after abdominal surgery.

How it Works / Key Benefits

  • Ciprofloxacin: Fluoroquinolone antibiotic, kills bacteria by inhibiting DNA gyrase/topoisomerase IV, blocking DNA replication and repair.

  • Tinidazole: Nitroimidazole antibiotic/antiprotozoal, damages DNA of anaerobic bacteria and protozoa, preventing their growth and survival.

  • Combination covers both aerobic and anaerobic bacteria, as well as protozoal pathogens for effective management of severe or mixed infectious conditions.

Dosage & Administration

  • Typically 1 tablet (500/600 mg) twice daily, as directed by a healthcare provider, course duration based on infection severity and response.

  • Take with water; do not skip doses; avoid alcohol while on tinidazole.

  • Complete the full course to prevent recurrence or resistance.

Safety & Side Effects

  • Common: Nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, diarrhea, headache, dizziness, metallic taste, mouth dryness.

  • Rare/serious: Allergic reactions, tendonitis/tendon rupture (ciprofloxacin), nerve damage, arrhythmias, dark urine (tinidazole)—seek medical help if severe or unusual symptoms appear.

  • Avoid in pregnancy, breastfeeding, those allergic to quinolones, tinidazole, or those with severe blood/brain disease.

  • Do not combine with tizanidine (muscle relaxant), be cautious with anticoagulant and arrhythmia medicines.

Note:
CIPCOZ-TZ is for doctor-prescribed use in confirmed mixed or protozoal-bacterial infections, not for viral illness or simple infections. Always inform the doctor of all medications and pre-existing illnesses.
