Description

DANSOFORD-200 (Danazol 200 mg) capsule is a synthetic androgenic hormone used primarily for gynecologic, hematologic, and immunological conditions.

Uses / Indications

• Endometriosis: Reduces pain, heavy menstrual bleeding, and growth of endometrial tissue outside the uterus; commonly used when other therapies fail or are not suitable.

• Fibrocystic breast disease: Helps relieve breast pain, tenderness, and shrink benign breast lumps, especially when unresponsive to standard treatments.

• Hereditary angioedema (HAE): Used to prevent or reduce the frequency/severity of swelling episodes in genetically predisposed patients.

• Other/Off-label: May be used for PMS, menstrual pain, immune thrombocytopenia, menorrhagia, gynecomastia, or preoperative thinning of the endometrium, per specialist advice.

How it Works / Key Benefits

• Pituitary suppressant/antigonadotropic: Lowers hormone levels (FSH, LH), suppresses ovulation, shrinks hormone-driven tissue, and stabilizes menstrual cycles.

• Androgenic effects: Shares properties with male hormones, which can lead to some “masculinizing” side effects.

• Immunomodulator: Raises C1-inhibitor levels, helping prevent hereditary angioedema attacks.

Dosage & Administration

• Dose varies by indication: often 100–200 mg once or twice daily for endometriosis, with higher doses (up to 400–800 mg/day in divided doses) for severe forms or for hereditary angioedema.

• Swallow whole with water, at the same times each day, for a doctor-specified course (usually 3–9 months in endometriosis).

• Therapy should start during menstruation to reduce pregnancy risk; effective contraception mandatory due to risk of fetal harm.

Safety & Side Effects

• Common: Weight gain, acne, oily skin, hirsutism (increased facial/body hair), voice deepening, headache, menstrual changes, breast size changes, mood swings.

• Serious: Blood clots, liver dysfunction, severe allergic reaction, swelling—seek urgent care if these develop.

• Not for pregnancy, breastfeeding, severe liver/kidney/heart disease, hormone-related cancers, or unexplained vaginal bleeding.

• Regular monitoring: Liver function, blood cells, and hormone levels during therapy.

• Discontinue immediately if pregnancy occurs or for serious side effects.
