Description

Deriva-CMS Gel is a topical anti-acne formulation that combines the power of a retinoid (Adapalene) with an antibiotic (Clindamycin) for comprehensive acne management.

  • Adapalene (0.1%) regulates skin cell turnover, prevents pore blockage, and reduces inflammation.

  • Clindamycin (1%) is a lincosamide antibiotic that inhibits bacterial protein synthesis, effectively reducing the growth of Propionibacterium acnes (the bacteria responsible for acne).

Together, this combination provides dual action—reducing bacterial load and inflammation while preventing new comedone formation. It is particularly useful in treating inflammatory acne lesions such as papules and pustules.

Uses

  • Treatment of mild to moderate acne vulgaris

  • Reduces inflammatory acne lesions (red, swollen pimples)

  • Helps prevent new breakouts by unclogging pores

  • Improves overall skin texture and appearance with consistent use

Dosage & Directions for Use

  • Wash and dry the affected skin before application.

  • Apply a thin layer once daily at night, or as directed by a dermatologist.

  • Avoid contact with eyes, mouth, nostrils, and broken skin.

  • Use sunscreen during the day, as adapalene may increase sun sensitivity.

  • Full results may take 8–12 weeks of consistent use.

Possible Side Effects

Most side effects are temporary and mild.

Common:

  • Redness, peeling, itching, or mild burning at application site

  • Dryness or skin irritation

  • Initial flare-up of acne in the first few weeks (“purging”)

Rare but serious:

  • Severe allergic reactions (rash, swelling, difficulty breathing)

  • Diarrhea or abdominal cramps (rare, due to systemic absorption of clindamycin)

⚠️ Avoid combining with other acne medications (like benzoyl peroxide or strong retinoids) unless prescribed, as this may increase irritation.
