HQ-STAR 400

Description

HQ-STAR 400 contains hydroxychloroquine, an immunomodulatory and antimalarial drug. It is commonly prescribed for rheumatoid arthritis, systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), discoid lupus erythematosus, and prevention/treatment of malaria in specific settings.

How HQ-STAR 400 Works

• Autoimmune diseases: Reduces abnormal immune activity, swelling, and joint damage in arthritis and lupus.

• Malaria: Kills the malaria parasite in red blood cells, used both for treatment and prevention where appropriate.

Uses

• Rheumatoid arthritis: Decreases pain, swelling, and joint stiffness.

• Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) & discoid lupus: Improves joint pain, fatigue, and rashes, and helps protect organ function.

• Malaria: Used for treatment and prevention (chemoprophylaxis) in region-specific parasite types (not in high-resistance areas).

• May be used for other autoimmune or dermatologic disorders as advised by a doctor.

Common Side Effects

• Headache, dizziness, blurred vision, skin rash, itching, abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, decreased appetite, diarrhea, mood changes, and photosensitivity.

• Long-term/high-dose: risk of retinal damage (retinopathy)—necessitating regular eye exams.

• Very rare: Blood disorders, muscle weakness, changes in skin/hair color
