About Jalra-M 50mg/850mg Tablet

Jalra-M 50mg/850mg Tablet is an oral anti-diabetic medicine used to manage Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus in adults.
It combines two well-established agents — Vildagliptin and Metformin — to help achieve better blood sugar control when diet, exercise, and single-drug therapy are not sufficient.
The combination provides dual and complementary mechanisms, targeting both insulin secretion and glucose production.

How It Works

  • Vildagliptin (50mg): A DPP-4 inhibitor that increases incretin hormone levels, leading to enhanced insulin secretion and reduced glucagon release in response to meals.

  • Metformin (850mg): A biguanide that reduces glucose production in the liver, improves insulin sensitivity, and enhances peripheral glucose uptake.

Together, they improve fasting and postprandial (after-meal) glucose control and help prevent diabetes-related complications.

Uses

  • Treatment of Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus

  • Controls both fasting and postprandial blood glucose

  • Reduces the risk of diabetic complications such as neuropathy, nephropathy, and cardiovascular disease

Directions for Use

  • Take once or twice daily, preferably with meals, to minimize gastrointestinal side effects.

  • Swallow whole with water; do not crush or chew.

  • Follow a balanced diet and regular exercise regimen as advised by your doctor.

Side Effects

Common side effects may include:

  • Nausea, vomiting, or stomach discomfort

  • Diarrhea or bloating

  • Headache or dizziness

  • Mild hypoglycemia (especially when taken with other anti-diabetic agents)

Seek medical attention if you notice symptoms of lactic acidosis (muscle pain, rapid breathing, or extreme fatigue) or severe hypoglycemia.

Precautions

  • Avoid alcohol, which may increase the risk of lactic acidosis.

  • Inform your doctor if you have kidney, liver, or heart disorders.

  • Not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding unless prescribed.

  • Monitor blood glucose and HbA1c levels regularly.

  • Maintain hydration and avoid skipping meals while on this medication.
