LEFNO-20

Description

LEFNO-20 contains leflunomide, a disease-modifying antirheumatic drug (DMARD) used to control symptoms and slow joint damage in autoimmune arthritis. It is supplied as a blister pack for dosing convenience and protection.

Clinical Uses

• Rheumatoid arthritis: Reduces pain, swelling, stiffness, and progression of joint damage.

• Psoriatic arthritis: Controls joint symptoms in patients with psoriasis.

• Occasionally used for other immune-mediated inflammatory diseases.

Mechanism

Leflunomide inhibits the enzyme dihydroorotate dehydrogenase, blocking DNA synthesis in immune cells (lymphocytes), and thereby suppressing abnormal immune responses.

Dosage & Administration

• Take once daily at the same time, with or without food.

• Swallow whole with water; do not chew or crush

• Regular and ongoing use for long-term benefits

Common Side Effects

• Nausea, diarrhea, stomach upset, rash, headache, hair loss, increased liver enzymes

• Rare: blood count changes, nerve damage, serious liver injury, risk of infections.

Precautions & Safety Advice

• Routine blood monitoring (liver and blood counts) required during therapy.

• Not for use in pregnancy, breastfeeding, liver/kidney/bone marrow dysfunction, serious infections.

• Inform your physician about medical history, other medicines, and supplements
