LEFUMIDE-10

Description

LEFUMIDE-10 is a prescription tablet containing leflunomide, commonly used in autoimmune joint diseases. It is supplied in a blister strip for optimal storage and dosing.

Clinical Uses

• Rheumatoid arthritis: Controls pain, swelling, stiffness, and slows joint damage.

• Psoriatic arthritis: Reduces inflammation and joint damage in patients with psoriasis.

• May be used for other chronic autoimmune disorders as directed by the physician.

Mechanism of Action

Leflunomide inhibits dihydroorotate dehydrogenase, suppressing the formation and proliferation of immune lymphocytes. This decreases auto-immune reactions and chronic joint inflammation.

Dosage & Administration

• Take once daily, with or without food, at the same time each day.

• Swallow whole with water; do not chew/crush

• Continue long-term for disease control.

Common Side Effects

• Diarrhea, nausea, headache, indigestion, skin rash, hair loss, dizziness.

• Rare: elevated liver enzymes, serious liver/bone marrow effects, severe infection, allergic reaction.

• Not for use in pregnancy, breastfeeding, severe liver/kidney/heart/bone marrow disease, serious infection.

• Regular monitoring of blood counts and liver function is essential during therapy.
