Description

Uses:

• Treats Type-2 Diabetes Mellitus when diet and exercise alone are not enough.

• Sitagliptin helps the body release more insulin after meals.

• Metformin reduces liver sugar production and improves sugar uptake.

• Helps prevent long-term diabetes complications (heart, kidney, nerve issues).

Dosage:

• Typically one tablet once or twice daily, as directed by the doctor.

• Must be taken with meals to reduce gastric discomfort due to metformin.

• Swallow whole; do not crush or split.

How to Use:

• Take at the same time every day.

• If a dose is missed, take it soon; if it’s close to the next dose, skip the missed one.

• Do not double the dose.

Precautions:

• Avoid in severe kidney disease, metabolic acidosis, or if dehydrated.

• Use cautiously with alcohol—may increase the risk of lactic acidosis.

• Not suitable for type-1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis.

• Inform doctor if you have heart disease, liver disease, or vitamin B12 deficiency.

Side Effects:

• Common: Nausea, diarrhea, abdominal discomfort, gas.

• Possible: Low blood sugar (especially if combined with other antidiabetic medicines).

• Rare but serious: Lactic acidosis—symptoms include vomiting, breathing difficulty, severe weakness.

• Allergic reactions like rash or swelling can occur.
