Description

Uses:

• Used for Type-2 Diabetes Mellitus to control high blood sugar.

• Sitagliptin increases insulin release after meals and lowers glucagon.

• Extended-release Metformin reduces liver glucose production and improves insulin sensitivity.

• Helps reduce risk of complications like nerve damage, kidney issues, and heart problems.

Dosage:

• Usually once daily, as prescribed by the doctor.

• Always take with food, preferably in the evening to reduce stomach upset.

• Do not crush or chew—swallow whole.

How to Use:

• Take at the same time daily for best effect.

• If a dose is missed, take it soon; if it’s close to the next one, skip the missed dose.

• Avoid taking two doses together.

Precautions:

• Not recommended in severe kidney problems, metabolic acidosis, or uncontrolled diabetes with dehydration.

• Avoid excessive alcohol intake—may increase risk of lactic acidosis.

• Use cautiously in liver disease, heart failure, vitamin B12 deficiency.

• Not for type-1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis.

Side Effects:

• Common: Nausea, diarrhea, stomach discomfort, gas.

• Sometimes: Headache, low blood sugar (higher risk if used with sulfonylureas/insulin).

• Rare but serious: Lactic acidosis, allergic reactions, pancreatitis (severe abdominal pain radiating to the back).
