Description

Melmet 1000 SR Tablet is used to manage high blood sugar levels in people with type 2 diabetes. The SR (sustained release) formulation helps maintain steady sugar control throughout the day and reduces stomach upset. It works by lowering glucose production in the liver, improving insulin sensitivity, and helping the body use insulin more effectively.

Uses:

• Type 2 diabetes management

• Controls high blood sugar

• Helps prevent long-term complications like kidney damage, heart disease, nerve issues

• Supports weight management

• Improves insulin action

Dosage:

• Generally once or twice daily, as prescribed

• Higher dose than 500mg — used when lower doses are not enough

• Must be taken regularly for effective sugar control

How to Use:

• Take after meals

• Swallow the tablet whole; do not crush or chew (affects SR release)

• Take at the same time daily

• Follow prescribed diet & exercise plan

Precautions:

• Avoid alcohol (risk of lactic acidosis)

• Not recommended in severe kidney disease, liver disease, dehydration, or severe infection

• Inform doctor if undergoing surgery or contrast scan

• Monitor blood sugar regularly

• Stop medicine and seek help if you feel extreme tiredness, stomach pain, difficulty breathing (signs of lactic acidosis)

Side Effects:
