Mesacol Enema

Uses:
Mesacol Enema is used for the treatment of ulcerative colitis, especially when inflammation affects the lower colon and rectum. Mesalazine (5-aminosalicylic acid) helps reduce inflammation, control rectal bleeding, and relieve associated abdominal discomfort and diarrhea.

Dosage:
The dosage is prescribed by a doctor. Typically, one enema once daily, preferably at bedtime, or as directed by the healthcare professional.

How to Use:

• Shake the enema well before use.

• Remove the cap and gently insert the nozzle into the rectum.

• Slowly squeeze the contents into the rectum.

• Remain lying down for 10–15 minutes to ensure absorption.

• Wash hands thoroughly after administration.

Precautions:

• Inform your doctor if you have kidney, liver, or heart problems.

• Do not use if allergic to Mesalazine or related drugs.

• Consult your doctor if symptoms persist or worsen.

• Use during pregnancy or breastfeeding only if clearly prescribed.

Side Effects:

• Common: Mild rectal irritation, nausea

• Moderate: Abdominal discomfort, diarrhea

• Rare: Severe allergic reactions, kidney or liver issues

Storage:

• Store in a cool, dry place below 30°C.

• Keep the enema in its original packaging until use.
