Uses:
Mesacol Tablet DR is used to treat and maintain remission in inflammatory bowel diseases such as ulcerative colitis and Crohn’s disease. Mesalazine (5-aminosalicylic acid) works by reducing inflammation in the gut lining, thereby relieving symptoms like abdominal pain, diarrhea, and rectal bleeding.

Dosage:
The dosage is prescribed by a doctor based on the severity of the condition. Typically, one tablet 2–3 times daily or as directed.

How to Use:

• Take orally with water, preferably after meals.

• Swallow the tablet whole; do not crush or chew as it is a delayed-release (DR) formulation.

• Take at the same time each day for consistent effect.

Precautions:

• Inform your doctor if you have kidney, liver, or heart problems.

• Avoid using if allergic to Mesalazine or related drugs.

• Monitor for unusual symptoms like blood in urine, severe abdominal pain, or persistent diarrhea.

• Use during pregnancy or breastfeeding only if prescribed.

Side Effects:

• Common: Nausea, headache, mild abdominal discomfort

• Moderate: Diarrhea, flatulence, rash

• Rare: Severe allergic reactions, liver problems, kidney issues, pancreatitis
