MEXate 15 Tablet

Description

MEXate 15 Tablet is used to treat certain types of cancer, such as breast cancer, head and neck cancer, and leukemia. It is also prescribed for autoimmune diseases like rheumatoid arthritis, psoriasis, and Crohn’s disease. Methotrexate works by slowing down the growth of rapidly dividing cells and suppressing an overactive immune system, thereby reducing inflammation and disease activity.

Dosage
Take the tablet exactly as prescribed by your doctor, usually once a week, not daily. The dose and duration depend on your medical condition and treatment response. Taking more than the prescribed dose can cause serious side effects.

How to Use
Swallow the tablet whole with water, with or without food. Take it on the same day each week to maintain consistency. Do not crush or chew the tablet. If you miss a dose, contact your doctor for advice—do not double the dose to make up for a missed one.

Precautions
Inform your doctor if you have liver, kidney, or lung problems. Avoid alcohol, as it increases the risk of liver damage. Women should avoid pregnancy during treatment and for some time after stopping it, as Methotrexate can cause birth defects. Regular blood tests are required to monitor liver, kidney, and blood cell levels.

Side Effects
Common side effects include nausea, vomiting, fatigue, mouth ulcers, and loss of appetite. Serious side effects may include liver problems, lung infections, low blood counts, and severe skin reactions. Seek medical help immediately if you notice unexplained bruising, shortness of breath, or yellowing of skin or eyes.
