Description
Okamet GMP 1 Tablet is a triple combination oral antidiabetic medicine manufactured by Cipla Ltd. It contains Glimepiride 1mg, Metformin Hydrochloride 500mg (Sustained Release), and Pioglitazone 15mg. This medicine is prescribed for the management of Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus when diet, exercise, and dual therapy do not provide adequate control.
How Okamet GMP 1 Works
-
Glimepiride (1mg): A sulfonylurea that increases insulin secretion from the pancreas, lowering blood glucose after meals.
-
Metformin SR (500mg): A biguanide that reduces glucose production in the liver, delays sugar absorption from the intestines, and enhances insulin sensitivity in the body.
-
Pioglitazone (15mg): A thiazolidinedione that improves the body’s response to insulin, allowing better glucose utilization in muscles and fat tissues.
Together, these three medicines act through different mechanisms to provide powerful and comprehensive blood sugar control, targeting both fasting and postprandial (after meal) glucose levels.
