Description
Olmesar CH 20 Tablet is a combination medicine used for the treatment of hypertension (high blood pressure). It contains Olmesartan Medoxomil (20mg), an angiotensin receptor blocker (ARB), and Chlorthalidone (12.5mg), a diuretic (water pill). Together, they help lower blood pressure by relaxing blood vessels and increasing urine output, which reduces excess fluid and strain on the heart. Controlling blood pressure helps prevent heart attack, stroke, and kidney damage in the long run.
How to use:
Olmesar CH 20 Tablet can be taken with or without food, preferably at the same time each day. Since it contains a diuretic, it is best to avoid taking it close to bedtime (within 4 hours) to prevent frequent urination at night. Continue using it as prescribed, even if you feel well, as untreated hypertension may silently damage your heart, kidneys, or blood vessels.
Possible side effects:
Common side effects include dizziness, tiredness, headache, nausea, diarrhea, taste changes, and upset stomach. It may also increase uric acid, blood lipid levels, or potassium levels, and in rare cases, may affect kidney or liver function. Most side effects are mild and temporary, but consult your doctor if they persist or worsen.
Precautions:
-
Alcohol: Avoid alcohol; it may enhance drowsiness or dizziness.
-
Pregnancy: Unsafe; proven risks to the developing baby. Use only if prescribed in life-threatening situations.
-
Breastfeeding: Probably unsafe; may pass into breast milk. Consult your doctor.
-
Kidney/Liver issues: Not recommended in patients with severe kidney or liver disease. Use with caution otherwise.
-
Driving: Avoid driving if you experience dizziness, sleepiness, or vision problems.
Missed dose:
If you forget to take a dose, take it as soon as you remember. If it is nearly time for your next scheduled dose, skip the missed dose—do not double up.
