Dosage & How to Use

• Usual dose: 1 tablet once daily, preferably in the morning

• Can be taken with or without food

• Do not miss doses or stop suddenly

• Drink adequate water unless doctor restricts fluids

How the Medicine Works

Telmisartan 40mg

• Blocks angiotensin-II

• Relaxes blood vessels → lowers BP

• Reduces strain on the heart & kidneys

Chlorthalidone 12.5mg

• Removes excess salt and water

• Reduces volume of blood → lowers BP

• Decreases swelling and improves circulation

Precautions

• Avoid during pregnancy and breastfeeding

• Inform doctor if you have:

  • Kidney or liver problems

  • Gout, diabetes

  • Low sodium or potassium

  • Dehydration

• Avoid alcohol; may increase dizziness

• Avoid potassium supplements unless prescribed

• Regular monitoring of BP, sodium, potassium, and kidney function is important

• Side Effects

  Common:

  • Dizziness or lightheadedness

  • Frequent urination

  • Weakness or tiredness

  • Low blood pressure

  • Dry mouth

  Less common:

  • Low sodium/potassium

  • Gout flare

  • Kidney changes

  • Muscle cramps
