Description

DiaNORM-M OD 1000 Tablet SR is a combination oral antidiabetic medicine used for managing Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus in adults. It contains Gliclazide (60mg) and Metformin (1000mg) — two complementary medicines that help regulate blood sugar levels effectively when lifestyle changes and single-drug therapy are not sufficient.

  • Gliclazide (a sulfonylurea) stimulates the pancreas to produce more insulin.

  • Metformin (a biguanide) decreases glucose production in the liver and improves the body’s sensitivity to insulin.

The “OD” (Once Daily) and “SR” (Sustained Release) formulation ensures a slow and steady release of medicine over 24 hours, maintaining stable blood sugar levels throughout the day with a single dose.

Uses:

  • Treatment of Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus

  • Helps improve insulin sensitivity and lower fasting and post-meal blood glucose levels

  • Prevents long-term complications of diabetes such as nerve damage, kidney failure, heart disease, and eye disorders

Dosage:

The dose is individualized based on the patient’s blood sugar readings, age, and medical condition. Typically taken once daily with breakfast or the first main meal.

  • Swallow the tablet whole with water — do not crush, chew, or break.

  • Take it at the same time every day for consistent blood sugar control.

  • Do not skip meals after taking this medicine to prevent low blood sugar (hypoglycemia).

  • Continue the medicine as prescribed — stopping suddenly can cause an abrupt rise in blood sugar levels.

How to Use:

Take DiaNORM-M OD 1000 Tablet SR with or after food, preferably breakfast. Swallow it whole with a full glass of water. Because it’s a sustained-release (SR) tablet, it provides a slow, continuous effect to control blood sugar all day. Combine the medicine with a balanced diet, regular exercise, and routine blood sugar monitoring for the best results.

Precautions:

  • Avoid alcohol, as it may increase the risk of hypoglycemia or lactic acidosis (a rare but serious effect of Metformin).

  • Not recommended for patients with severe kidney or liver impairment.

  • Avoid use in Type 1 Diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis.

  • Inform your doctor if you are scheduled for surgery or radiological tests using contrast dye.

  • Pregnant or breastfeeding women should use only under medical advice.

  • Keep sugar candies or glucose tablets handy to manage hypoglycemia symptoms such as sweating, shaking, confusion, or dizziness.

Side Effects:

Common: Nausea, vomiting, stomach upset, diarrhea, metallic taste, headache, or fatigue.
Occasional: Low blood sugar (hypoglycemia), dizziness, blurred vision, or weight gain.
Serious (seek immediate help): Signs of lactic acidosis (muscle pain, trouble breathing, extreme weakness), yellowing of skin/eyes, or severe allergic reactions (rash, swelling, itching).
