Description

Diapride M1 Tablet PR is a combination anti-diabetic medicine used in the management of Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (T2DM). It contains Glimepiride (1mg) and Metformin (500mg) as its active ingredients. Together, they help regulate blood glucose levels and improve the body’s response to insulin.

  • Glimepiride (a sulfonylurea) stimulates the pancreas to secrete more insulin, which helps lower blood sugar.

  • Metformin (a biguanide) decreases the amount of glucose produced by the liver and improves the body’s sensitivity to insulin.

Diapride M1 Tablet PR (Prolonged Release) provides a sustained release of medication throughout the day, ensuring steady control of blood sugar and reducing the risk of spikes or drops. It is generally prescribed when diet and exercise alone are not enough to keep blood sugar levels under control.

By keeping blood sugar stable, this medicine helps prevent long-term complications such as nerve damage, kidney disease, vision problems, and heart conditions associated with diabetes.

Uses:

  • Treatment and control of Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus

  • Helps maintain stable blood glucose levels

  • Prevents complications related to uncontrolled diabetes (neuropathy, retinopathy, nephropathy)

Dosage:

  • The dosage is based on your medical condition, blood sugar levels, and response to treatment.

  • Typically taken once or twice daily, preferably with meals to reduce stomach irritation.

  • Swallow the tablet whole with water — do not crush or chew.

  • Take the medicine at the same time every day to maintain consistent blood glucose control.

  • Do not stop or change the dose without consulting your doctor.

How to Use:

Take Diapride M1 Tablet PR with food, ideally during or just after a meal, to prevent low blood sugar (hypoglycemia) and reduce gastric side effects. Maintain a balanced diet, follow an exercise plan, and monitor your blood glucose regularly for effective diabetes control.

Precautions:

  • Avoid alcohol, as it may increase the risk of low blood sugar or lactic acidosis.

  • Not suitable for Type 1 Diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis.

  • Use with caution in patients with liver, kidney, or heart problems.

  • Always carry a source of sugar (like glucose tablets or sweets) in case of low blood sugar symptoms such as sweating, trembling, or confusion.

  • Consult your doctor if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or planning to conceive.

  • Avoid skipping meals while on this medication.

Side Effects:

Common: Low blood sugar (hypoglycemia), nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, stomach pain, dizziness, or mild weakness.
Occasional: Loss of appetite, metallic taste, or slight weight changes.
Serious (seek medical attention): Signs of lactic acidosis (muscle pain, rapid breathing, drowsiness), severe hypoglycemia, allergic skin reactions, or yellowing of the skin/eyes (liver issues).
