Description
Febustat 40 Tablet contains Febuxostat, a medicine that belongs to the class of xanthine oxidase inhibitors. It is primarily prescribed for the management of chronic gout, a condition caused by excess uric acid levels in the blood (hyperuricemia). By lowering uric acid levels, Febustat helps prevent gout attacks, joint pain, swelling, and the formation of uric acid crystals in the kidneys and joints.
Uses of Febustat 40 Tablet
-
Treatment of chronic gout
-
Prevention of uric acid buildup in patients with high uric acid levels
-
Reduction of uric acid–related complications, including kidney stones and joint damage
How it Works
-
Febuxostat (40mg): Inhibits the enzyme xanthine oxidase, which is responsible for converting purines into uric acid.
-
This reduces serum uric acid levels, preventing crystal deposition in the joints and kidneys.
Dosage & Administration
-
Typically prescribed as once daily, with or without food.
-
The dose may be adjusted based on uric acid levels and response to therapy.
-
Not recommended for use during acute gout attacks; instead, preventive long-term therapy is the goal.
-
Should be taken regularly for maximum benefit—do not stop suddenly without consulting a doctor.
