Description

Lizomac Tablet contains Linezolid, an antibiotic from the oxazolidinone class. It works by stopping the growth of certain bacteria, especially drug-resistant strains, by blocking protein synthesis.

It is mainly used for serious bacterial infections that do not respond to common antibiotics, including MRSA (Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococcus aureus) and VRE (Vancomycin-Resistant Enterococci).

Uses of Lizomac Tablet

  • Pneumonia (including hospital-acquired and community-acquired)

  • Skin and soft tissue infections (including diabetic foot infections)

  • Infections caused by multi-drug resistant bacteria such as MRSA and VRE

  • Sometimes used in tuberculosis (MDR/XDR TB) as part of combination therapy (specialist prescription only)

How to Use

  • Take the medicine exactly as prescribed by your doctor.

  • Usually taken once or twice daily, with or without food.

  • Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water; do not crush or chew.

  • Complete the full course even if you feel better early, to prevent relapse and resistance.

  • Dosage and duration depend on infection type and patient’s condition.

Side Effects

Common side effects:

  • Headache

  • Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea

  • Peripheral neuropathy (numbness, tingling, burning in hands or feet)

Precautions

  • Long-term use may require regular blood tests (to monitor blood counts).

  • Not recommended in pregnancy or breastfeeding unless clearly necessary.
