Amlosafe TM 40 Tablet

Description

Amlosafe TM 40 Tablet is a combination antihypertensive medicine used to control high blood pressure (hypertension). It contains:

• Telmisartan – an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB) that relaxes blood vessels by blocking the action of angiotensin II, lowering blood pressure and protecting the heart and kidneys.

• Amlodipine – a calcium channel blocker (CCB) that prevents calcium from entering the blood vessel walls, helping them relax and improving blood flow.

Together, these medicines help reduce the risk of stroke, heart attack, and kidney damage caused by long-term uncontrolled hypertension.

Uses

• Treatment of hypertension (high blood pressure)

• Prevention of cardiovascular complications like stroke and heart attack

• Protects kidney function in high-risk patients (e.g., with diabetes and proteinuria)

• Reduces strain on the heart and blood vessels

Side Effects

Common side effects may include:

• Dizziness, headache, or fatigue

• Swelling of ankles/feet (edema)

• Flushing or warmth sensation

• Low blood pressure (hypotension)

• Stomach upset or nausea

Serious but rare side effects:

• Severe allergic reactions (rash, swelling, difficulty breathing)

• Irregular heartbeat or chest pain

• Worsening kidney function

• Severe low blood pressure with fainting

Precautions

• Not recommended during pregnancy and breastfeeding

• Use with caution in patients with liver, kidney, or heart problems

• Avoid alcohol as it may increase dizziness and lower BP further

• Regular monitoring of blood pressure, kidney function, and electrolytes is advised
