Atchol-ASP Capsule

Description

Atchol-ASP Capsule is a combination cardiovascular medicine that combines:

• Atorvastatin (10mg) – a statin that lowers LDL cholesterol and triglycerides while increasing HDL cholesterol, reducing the risk of atherosclerosis and cardiovascular events.

• Aspirin (75mg) – an antiplatelet agent that prevents blood clot formation, lowering the risk of heart attack and stroke in high-risk patients.

This combination is used for primary and secondary prevention of cardiovascular diseases, especially in patients with high cholesterol and increased thrombotic risk.

Uses

• Lowers LDL cholesterol and improves lipid profile

• Prevents blood clots, heart attacks, and strokes

• Reduces risk of cardiovascular events in high-risk patients

• Used in coronary artery disease, post-heart attack, or post-stent placement

Side Effects

Common side effects may include:

• Headache, dizziness

• Stomach upset, nausea, or mild abdominal discomfort

• Heartburn or indigestion (from aspirin)

• Muscle pain or mild weakness (from atorvastatin)

Serious but rare side effects:

• Severe muscle pain, tenderness, or weakness (myopathy/rhabdomyolysis – atorvastatin)

• Gastrointestinal bleeding or ulcers (aspirin)

• Allergic reactions (rash, swelling, difficulty breathing)

• Liver dysfunction (jaundice, dark urine, elevated liver enzymes)

Precautions

• Not recommended for patients with active bleeding, peptic ulcer, severe liver disease, or aspirin allergy

• Use cautiously in patients with kidney or liver impairment

• Regular monitoring of liver function, lipid profile, and blood counts is advised

• Avoid alcohol to reduce risk of bleeding and liver strain

• Inform your doctor about other medications, especially anticoagulants or NSAIDs

• Pregnant and breastfeeding women should use only if prescribed

Dosage

• Usually 1 capsule once daily, or as directed by the physician

• Can be taken with or without food

• Swallow the capsule whole with water
