Atchol CV Capsule

Description

Atchol CV Capsule is a cardiovascular combination medicine that contains:

• Atorvastatin (10mg) – a statin that lowers LDL cholesterol and triglycerides while increasing HDL cholesterol, helping prevent atherosclerosis and heart disease.

• Clopidogrel (75mg) – an antiplatelet agent that inhibits platelet aggregation, reducing the risk of blood clots, heart attack, and stroke.

This combination is primarily prescribed for patients at high cardiovascular risk, including those with coronary artery disease, post-stent placement, or previous heart attacks.

Uses

• Lowers LDL cholesterol and improves lipid profile

• Prevents blood clot formation, heart attacks, and strokes

• Reduces risk of cardiovascular events in patients with atherosclerosis

• Used in secondary prevention in patients with prior heart attack, stroke, or stent placement

• Supports overall heart and vascular health

Side Effects

Common side effects:

• Headache or dizziness

• Nausea, mild stomach discomfort

• Muscle pain or weakness (from atorvastatin)

• Gastrointestinal upset

Serious but rare side effects:

• Severe muscle pain or weakness (myopathy/rhabdomyolysis – atorvastatin)

• Severe bleeding or bruising (from clopidogrel)

• Liver dysfunction (yellowing of eyes/skin, dark urine, elevated liver enzymes)

• Allergic reactions (rash, swelling, difficulty breathing)

Precautions

• Not recommended for patients with active bleeding, peptic ulcer, liver disease, or allergy to clopidogrel

• Use cautiously in patients with kidney, liver, or bleeding disorders

• Regular monitoring of liver function, blood counts, and lipid profile is advised

• Avoid alcohol to reduce bleeding risk

• Inform your doctor about other medications, especially anticoagulants, NSAIDs, or antiplatelet drugs

• Pregnant or breastfeeding women should take only if prescribed

Dosage

• Typically 1 capsule once daily, or as directed by the physician

• Can be taken with or without food

• Swallow whole with water
