Atchol-F Tablet

Description

Atchol-F Tablet is a combination lipid-lowering medicine that contains:

• Atorvastatin (10mg) – a statin that lowers LDL cholesterol and triglycerides while increasing HDL cholesterol, reducing the risk of atherosclerosis and cardiovascular events.

• Fenofibrate (160mg) – a fibric acid derivative that primarily reduces triglycerides and increases HDL cholesterol, helping manage mixed dyslipidemia.

This combination is prescribed for patients with high cholesterol, high triglycerides, or mixed dyslipidemia, especially when monotherapy is insufficient to achieve lipid targets.

Side Effects

Common side effects:

• Indigestion or heartburn

Serious but rare side effects:

• Severe muscle pain or weakness (myopathy/rhabdomyolysis – especially when combining statin + fibrate)

• Liver dysfunction (yellowing of eyes/skin, dark urine, elevated liver enzymes)

• Allergic reactions (rash, swelling, difficulty breathing)

• Pancreatitis (rare – mainly associated with fenofibrate)

Precautions

• Regular monitoring of liver function, kidney function, and lipid profile is advised

• Use cautiously in patients with liver, kidney, or muscle disorders

• Avoid excessive alcohol consumption

• Inform your doctor about other medications, especially statins, fibrates, or anticoagulants

• Pregnant or breastfeeding women should use only if prescribed

Dosage

• Typically 1 tablet once daily, or as directed by the physician

• Can be taken with or without food

• Swallow whole with water
