Brufen 600 Tablet

Description

Brufen 600 Tablet is a high-strength non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) containing Ibuprofen 600mg. It is prescribed for the relief of moderate to severe pain, inflammation, and fever in conditions where lower doses are insufficient.

This formulation is commonly used in the management of arthritis, musculoskeletal pain, back pain, post-operative pain, dental pain, and painful menstrual cramps. Due to its higher dose, it is recommended only under strict medical supervision.

Uses

• Relief of moderate to severe pain (toothache, backache, musculoskeletal pain, post-surgery pain)

• Management of fever and inflammation

• Treatment of arthritis (rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, ankylosing spondylitis)

• Relief from menstrual pain (dysmenorrhea)

• Supportive therapy in joint and muscle injuries

How it Works

Ibuprofen works by inhibiting cyclooxygenase enzymes (COX-1 and COX-2), which lowers the production of prostaglandins—chemicals responsible for pain, fever, and inflammation. This results in effective symptom relief and improved mobility.

Dosage & Administration

• To be taken with or after food to reduce stomach irritation.

• Swallow whole with a glass of water; do not crush or chew.

• Dose and duration depend on medical condition and doctor’s advice.

• Not recommended for self-medication due to its high strength.

Side Effects

• Indigestion, heartburn

• Dizziness, headache, drowsiness

Serious (seek immediate medical help):

• Gastrointestinal bleeding, ulcer formation

• Severe allergic reaction (swelling, rash, difficulty breathing)

• Kidney impairment (reduced urine output, swelling of feet/ankles)

• Increased blood pressure, fluid retention

Precautions

• Avoid in patients with a history of stomach ulcers, gastrointestinal bleeding, severe liver/kidney impairment, or cardiovascular disease.

• Caution in asthma patients, as it may worsen symptoms.

• Avoid alcohol consumption, as it increases the risk of gastric bleeding.

• Not recommended during pregnancy (especially 3rd trimester) unless prescribed.

• Long-term or high-dose use requires regular medical monitoring.
