Description
CETCIP-L is an antihistamine tablet containing Levocetirizine Hydrochloride 5mg. It is primarily used for the treatment and relief of symptoms related to allergic conditions such as:
- Allergic rhinitis (hay fever)
- Urticaria (hives)
- Skin allergies (eczema, reactions to insect bites)
- Conjunctivitis (allergic red, itchy eyes)
How It Works
Levocetirizine is a modern, non-sedating antihistamine. It blocks histamine H1 receptors, preventing allergy symptoms such as itching, sneezing, runny or blocked nose, watery eyes, and skin rash.
Indications
- Nasal allergies: sneezing, itchy nose, congestion, runny nose
- Eye allergies: redness, watery/itchy eyes
- Skin reactions: itching, swelling, redness, hives
- Response to allergens: such as pollen, dust, pet dander, and insect bites
Dosage & Administration
- Usual adult dose: 1 tablet (5mg) once daily, preferably in the evening
- Children: Suitable for children aged 6 years and above, with dosing as advised by a physician
- Swallow the tablet whole with water. Can be taken with or without food.
- Do not exceed the prescribed dose.
Side Effects
- Sleepiness, drowsiness
- Headache
- Dry mouth
- Fatigue, dizziness
- Rarely, sore throat, cough, or stomach upset
These effects are usually mild and temporary. Avoid driving or operating machinery if drowsiness occurs.
Precautions
- Not for children under 6 years unless prescribed
- Use with caution if you have kidney or liver problems, epilepsy, or are pregnant/breastfeeding; consult your doctor first
- Inform your doctor of all other ongoing medications to avoid drug interactions
- Avoid alcohol as it may increase drowsiness
- Stop the tablet and seek medical advice if you experience allergic reactions or severe/persistent side effects.
Storage
- Store at room temperature, away from moisture and direct sunlight
- Keep out of reach of children
