Description

CIPDAPLA-M 10/500 Tablet is a prescription combination medicine formulated for the management of Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus. It provides dual glycemic control with two complementary anti-diabetic agents:

• Dapagliflozin (10mg): A sodium-glucose co-transporter 2 (SGLT2) inhibitor that promotes the removal of excess blood glucose via urine, working independently of insulin.

• Metformin Hydrochloride (500mg): A biguanide that reduces hepatic glucose production, delays glucose absorption from the intestines, and enhances insulin sensitivity.

Mechanism of Action

• Dapagliflozin: Inhibits SGLT2 in the kidneys, blocking glucose reabsorption, thereby increasing urinary glucose excretion and lowering blood sugar levels.

• Metformin: Lowers glucose production in the liver, improves insulin response, and reduces intestinal glucose absorption; together, superior glycemic control is achieved compared to using either component alone.

Indications

• Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus: Used for adults when diet, exercise, and other single-agent (monotherapy) treatments do not achieve adequate glycemic control.

• Prevention of complications: Helps lower risk of diabetic complications including kidney, nerve, eye, and heart disorders.
