Diamox Tablet

Description

Diamox Tablet contains Acetazolamide (250mg), a carbonic anhydrase inhibitor. It is primarily used to treat conditions caused by fluid buildup or increased pressure in the body, including glaucoma, altitude sickness, and certain types of seizures. Acetazolamide works by reducing the production of fluids in the body (like aqueous humor in the eyes), helping to lower pressure and maintain balance in body fluids.

Uses:

• Glaucoma (reduces intraocular pressure)

• Prevention and treatment of altitude sickness

• Edema (fluid retention) associated with heart failure or certain kidney disorders

• Some types of seizures (as adjunct therapy)

Dosage:

• Take exactly as prescribed by the doctor.

• Usually taken once or twice daily with food or after meals to reduce stomach upset.

• Drink plenty of fluids unless otherwise advised by the doctor.

Side Effects:

• Tingling or numbness in fingers/toes

• Frequent urination

• Dizziness, headache

• Stomach upset, nausea

• Rare: allergic reactions, electrolyte imbalance, kidney stones

Precautions:

• Inform doctor if you have kidney or liver disease, electrolyte imbalance, or sulfa allergy.

• May cause drowsiness—avoid driving or operating machinery.

• Not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding unless clearly prescribed.

• Regular monitoring of kidney function and electrolytes may be required during long-term use.
