Description

Uses:

Flodart Tablet PR is used for:

• Management of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH): Enlarged prostate causing urinary difficulties

• Helps relieve:

  • Difficulty in starting urination

  • Weak urine stream

  • Frequent urination, especially at night

  • Urgency and incomplete bladder emptying

• Improves overall urinary flow and comfort

How It Works:

• Tamsulosin (0.4mg): An alpha-blocker that relaxes smooth muscles in the prostate and bladder neck.

• This improves urine flow and reduces urinary symptoms associated with BPH.

• Provides quick symptom relief, though it does not reduce prostate size.

Dosage & Administration:

• Usually taken once daily, preferably after the same meal each day.

• Swallow the tablet whole, do not crush or chew.

• Improvement in urinary symptoms can be noticed within a few days to weeks.

Side Effects:

Common:

• Dizziness or lightheadedness, especially when standing up (orthostatic hypotension)

• Fatigue

• Mild headache

• Ejaculation disorders or decreased libido

Rare:

• Severe allergic reactions (rash, swelling, difficulty breathing)

• Fainting

• Eye problems during cataract surgery (Intraoperative Floppy Iris Syndrome)

Precautions & Warnings:

• Use cautiously in patients with low blood pressure, heart conditions, or liver impairment.

• Inform your doctor if you have history of prostate cancer or are scheduled for eye surgery.
