ILASET-DSR

Description

ILASET-DSR is a dual-action medication containing ilaprazole (a next-generation proton pump inhibitor, PPI) and domperidone (a prokinetic and antiemetic). Ilaprazole reduces stomach acid; domperidone enhances gut motility and controls nausea. The formulation is a capsule containing gastro-resistant tablets/pellets for best absorption and effect.

Primary Uses

• Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD): Chronic acid reflux and heartburn.

• Peptic ulcers (gastric and duodenal): Healing and preventing ulcer recurrence.

• Non-ulcer dyspepsia, gastritis, and erosive esophagitis

• Nausea/vomiting and bloating related to acid peptic disorders or post-surgery.

Mechanism of Action

• Ilaprazole: Blocks the stomach’s proton pumps, reducing acid secretion and helping heal ulcers and inflamed gastric tissue.

• Domperidone: Increases movement in the stomach/intestine and helps food pass smoothly, relieves bloating, and controls nausea by blocking dopamine receptors.

Dosage & Directions

• Taken once daily (as prescribed), best one hour before meals, preferably in the morning

• Swallow whole—do not chew or break the capsule or tablet inside.

• Complete the course as directed by a physician, even if symptoms resolve early

Common Side Effects

• Headache, constipation, diarrhea, abdominal pain, nausea, flatulence, dry mouth, sore throat, fatigue, dizziness.

• Rare/serious: rash/allergy, irregular heart rhythm (domperidone, in predisposed individuals), bone loss or mineral deficiency with long-term PPI use.

Safety & Precautions

• Not to be used by those with severe liver, kidney, or heart rhythm disorders, or allergy to PPIs/prokinetics.

• Inform doctor of all medications, pregnancy, breastfeeding, or chronic illnesses

• Limit long-term/unmonitored use due to risk of bone/renal/nutritional effects.
