About Jalra-M 50mg/1000mg Tablet

Jalra-M 50mg/1000mg Tablet is a combination oral anti-diabetic medicine used for the management of Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus in adults.
It is prescribed when diet, exercise, and monotherapy are insufficient to achieve optimal blood sugar control.
This dual formulation provides complementary mechanisms of action, helping control both fasting and postprandial (after-meal) blood glucose levels.

How It Works

  • Vildagliptin (50mg): A DPP-4 inhibitor that enhances the action of incretin hormones, stimulating insulin release and reducing glucagon secretion in response to meals.

  • Metformin (1000mg): A biguanide that reduces hepatic glucose production, improves insulin sensitivity, and enhances peripheral glucose uptake.

Together, they help improve glycemic control without causing significant weight gain or severe hypoglycemia.

Uses

  • Management of Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus

  • Controls fasting and postprandial blood sugar levels

  • Helps prevent long-term diabetes complications

Directions for Use

  • Take the tablet once or twice daily, preferably with meals, to minimize stomach discomfort.

  • Swallow whole; do not crush or chew.

  • Follow your doctor’s advice on diet, exercise, and dosing schedule for best results.

Side Effects

Common side effects may include:

  • Nausea, vomiting, or stomach upset

  • Diarrhea or bloating

  • Headache or dizziness

  • Mild hypoglycemia (more likely if combined with other anti-diabetic drugs)

Seek medical help if you experience lactic acidosis (symptoms include muscle pain, tiredness, or shortness of breath) or severe hypoglycemia.

Precautions

  • Avoid alcohol, as it may increase the risk of lactic acidosis.

  • Inform your doctor if you have kidney, liver, or heart problems.

  • Not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding unless prescribed.

  • Regularly monitor blood glucose and HbA1c levels.

  • Maintain adequate hydration during treatment.
