Description
Mactor 20 Tablet contains Atorvastatin (20mg), a cholesterol-lowering medicine belonging to the class of drugs called statins. It is widely prescribed for the treatment of high cholesterol (hypercholesterolemia) and prevention of cardiovascular events in patients at risk.
How it works:
Atorvastatin works by blocking the enzyme HMG-CoA reductase in the liver, which is responsible for cholesterol production. This reduces total cholesterol, low-density lipoprotein (LDL or “bad cholesterol”), and triglycerides while increasing high-density lipoprotein (HDL or “good cholesterol”). By correcting the lipid balance, it helps slow down plaque buildup in arteries and reduces the risk of atherosclerosis, heart attack, and stroke.
Uses:
-
Management of high cholesterol (hyperlipidemia)
-
Treatment of mixed dyslipidemia (elevated LDL and triglycerides)
-
Prevention of cardiovascular events such as heart attack, stroke, or angina
-
Beneficial for patients with diabetes, hypertension, or a family history of heart disease
Benefits:
-
Effectively lowers harmful cholesterol and triglycerides
-
Increases protective HDL cholesterol
-
Helps maintain healthy blood vessels and improves circulation
-
Reduces long-term cardiovascular risk
Dosage & Administration:
Mactor 20 Tablet should be taken once daily at a fixed time, with or without food, as directed by the doctor. Regular lipid profile tests are advised to monitor progress.
