Metrogyl O Tablet is a combination antibiotic used mainly for stomach and intestinal infections, especially:

Acute gastroenteritis

Diarrhoea with fever

Amoebiasis

Dysentery

Giardiasis
-
Mixed bacterial + parasitic infections

Abdominal infections
-
Dental and pelvic infections caused by susceptible organisms
How it Works:

Ofloxacin: A fluoroquinolone antibiotic that kills bacteria by blocking DNA replication.

Metronidazole: Works against anaerobic bacteria and parasites by damaging their DNA.
Together, they provide broad coverage for both bacterial and parasitic causes of stomach infections.
Dosage:

Usually taken 1 tablet twice a day, after meals.

Dosage depends on severity and doctor’s advice.

Do not stop early; complete the full course.
How to Use:

Swallow with water after food.

Avoid taking antacids (like aluminum/magnesium) within 2 hours of this medicine.

Avoid alcohol during treatment and 48 hours after the last dose (due to metronidazole).
Precautions:

Avoid alcohol.

Not recommended in pregnancy (especially 1st trimester) unless doctor advises.

Avoid if you have tendon problems, epilepsy, liver disease, or kidney disease.

Can cause dizziness — avoid driving if affected.
