Description

Oflomac IV 200mg Infusion contains Ofloxacin (200mg), a broad-spectrum antibiotic used in the treatment of various bacterial infections. It is effective against infections of the urinary tract, respiratory tract (including pneumonia), nose, throat, skin, and soft tissues.

This medicine is given as an intravenous infusion by a healthcare professional, usually in hospitalized or unconscious patients where oral administration is not possible. It works by blocking a bacterial enzyme (DNA-gyrase), preventing the bacteria from multiplying or repairing themselves, thereby stopping the infection. To ensure effectiveness and prevent antibiotic resistance, the full prescribed course must be completed, even if symptoms improve early.

Possible side effects include nausea, headache, dizziness, diarrhea, itching, rash, difficulty sleeping (insomnia), vaginal inflammation, and injection site reactions (redness, swelling, or pain). These are usually temporary, but seek medical advice if they persist or worsen. Rarely, severe allergic reactions may occur, requiring urgent medical attention.
