Description
Ornof Tablet is a combination antibiotic containing Ofloxacin, a fluoroquinolone, and Ornidazole, an antiprotozoal and antibacterial agent. This dual-action formulation is used to treat mixed bacterial and protozoal infections, particularly in the gastrointestinal and genitourinary tracts.
Uses
-
Gastrointestinal infections – amoebic dysentery, giardiasis, enteritis
-
Urinary tract infections (UTIs)

Mixed protozoal and bacterial infections
-
Genitourinary infections (e.g., trichomoniasis, bacterial vaginosis)
-
Other susceptible bacterial infections where combination therapy is required
How It Works
-
Ofloxacin (200mg): Inhibits bacterial DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV, preventing bacterial replication and growth.
-
Ornidazole (500mg): Interferes with DNA synthesis in protozoa and anaerobic bacteria, causing cell death.
The combination provides broad-spectrum coverage for both bacterial and protozoal infections.
