Description
Snapit 85mg/500mg Tablet is a combination medicine containing Sumatriptan (a selective serotonin receptor agonist) and Naproxen (a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug, NSAID). It is primarily prescribed for the treatment of acute migraine attacks with or without aura. This dual-action formulation not only provides fast relief from headache but also reduces associated symptoms like nausea, sensitivity to light/sound, and prevents recurrence within the same attack.
Composition:
-
Sumatriptan (85mg): Narrows dilated blood vessels in the brain and reduces release of pain-causing substances.
-
Naproxen (500mg): Reduces pain and inflammation by blocking prostaglandin production.
Indications / Uses:
Snapit Tablet is used for:
-
Acute treatment of migraine attacks
-
Relief from migraine-associated symptoms such as nausea, photophobia (light sensitivity), and phonophobia (sound sensitivity)
-
Reducing risk of headache recurrence during the same episode
How It Works:
-
Sumatriptan works by stimulating serotonin (5-HT1) receptors in the brain, causing constriction of blood vessels and stopping pain signals.
-
Naproxen complements this action by reducing inflammation and pain intensity, providing longer-lasting relief.
Dosage & Administration:
-
Should be taken as soon as migraine symptoms appear, or as prescribed by the doctor.
-
Swallow with water, with or without food.
-
Not meant for preventing migraines or for regular pain relief.
-
Dosage should not be exceeded, as both components can cause side effects in higher amounts.
Side Effects:
Common side effects may include:
-
Dizziness, drowsiness, or fatigue
-
Nausea, stomach upset, or indigestion
-
Dry mouth
-
Flushing or tingling sensations
Rare but serious: chest pain, irregular heartbeat, vision changes, gastrointestinal bleeding, or severe allergic reactions.
Precautions & Warnings:
-
Not suitable for patients with a history of heart disease, uncontrolled hypertension, stroke, or severe liver/kidney problems.

Avoid use with other triptans, ergotamine, or frequent NSAID use.
-
Should not be used as a long-term treatment – only for acute attacks.
