Description

Thyronorm 62.5mcg Tablet contains Thyroxine (Levothyroxine Sodium), a synthetic thyroid hormone used in the treatment of hypothyroidism (underactive thyroid gland). This strength (62.5mcg) is often prescribed when a patient’s requirement falls between 50mcg and 75mcg, allowing for precise dose adjustments to maintain stable thyroid hormone levels.

Indications / Uses:
Thyronorm 62.5mcg is used for:

• Hypothyroidism management (all forms, including congenital and acquired)

• Goiter (to shrink an enlarged thyroid gland)

• Post-thyroidectomy or post-radioiodine therapy as hormone replacement

• Thyroid cancer suppression therapy

• Fine-tuned maintenance dosing in patients requiring doses between standard tablet strengths

How It Works:
Thyroxine is a synthetic version of the natural thyroid hormone T4. It regulates metabolism, energy production, body temperature, and growth. By replacing deficient thyroid hormones, it restores normal metabolic activity and prevents symptoms such as fatigue, weight gain, depression, and cold intolerance.

Dosage & Administration:

• Taken once daily, on an empty stomach, at least 30–60 minutes before breakfast.

• Swallow with water; avoid tea, coffee, or milk right after.

• The 62.5mcg dose is chosen when precise adjustments are needed for optimal TSH levels.

• Dose must be individualized and adjusted based on thyroid function tests (TSH, T3, T4).

Side Effects:
If the dose is too high, it may cause symptoms similar to hyperthyroidism, including:

• Palpitations and irregular heartbeat

• Anxiety, restlessness, or tremors

• Insomnia or irritability

• Weight loss despite increased appetite

• Excessive sweating or heat intolerance
  Serious but rare: chest pain, arrhythmias, or seizures.

Precautions & Warnings:

• Not suitable for patients with untreated adrenal gland problems.

• Use cautiously in patients with heart conditions, diabetes, high blood pressure, or osteoporosis.
